Greetings from Smarty Books!!! It’s been a minute!
I’m popping in today to share two quick news items.
Today I Left the House
First, my new memoir-in-verse for moms called Today I Left the House: Diary of a First-Time Mom is celebrating its release TODAY!
Today I Left the House tells my story of becoming a mom in an accessible poetry format. It’s funny, sad, and sweet (not sappy), and can be read in one sitting. It’s been a labor of love since 2018, and I’m so happy it found a home with Wipf and Stock’s Resource imprint.
Our Food Grows
Second, I’ve signed to partner with Collective Book Studio on a picture book tentatively titled OUR FOOD GROWS. I’m writing the text, and my good friend and artist extraordinaire Tessa Gibbs is doing the illustrations. She is amazingly talented and the art will be stunning. I probably shouldn’t share any art samples here yet, but boy do I want to!
Here we are right after we signed the contract:
If all goes to plan, [Our Food Grows] will be out in March of 2025.
Resuming Smarty Books
The date is still TBD. Honestly, I am a bit overwhelmed. Launching Today I Left the House has been much more time intensive than I imagined. I have been keeping track of PB titles and have read some BEAUTIFUL books I can’t wait to talk about, but I’m not sure exactly when. Hopefully once the school year wraps up I can find a good rhythm.
Happy reading until we meet again!
