I’m Sarah White— writer, mother of young kids, teacher. I love beautifully made picture books that still delight after hundreds of reads.
1. Smarty Books
Smarty Books is a monthly newsletter for parents, teachers, and writers that offers a recommendation for a picture book that you will not mind reading over and over again.
Smart picture books inspire readers to think and dream.
Sweet picture books inspire emotional growth and the development of empathy.
Children need both to thrive (Beautiful illustrations, a well-paced plot and characters with agency don’t hurt either).
2. Author Interview
As a writer, I love hearing about other creators’ processes. As often as possible, Smarty Books will include a brief author interview with insights on the creator’s process. Share this with your classroom, your kids or your writer’s group for inspiration.
3. Details
Hopefully you’ll be hearing from me every month, but if my kids get marathon illnesses, all bets are off.
I will also include updates about my writing work along the way, and hopefully you can get to know me as a person as well : )
